Zell am See ski resort manages to combine traditional Austrian elegance and charm with some boot thumping Austrian Apres ski bars. Zell am See has a beautiful location next to the lake and access to the resort is via, train, plane or automobile. The resort is large but the lift access to the slopes is separated along the valley and so most hotels are within a small walk or a very short bus ride to the cable cars. The ski region is split into two broad areas, one which is accessible via Zell am See and one from its neighbour resort Kaprun. Travel between the resorts is via an efficient bus link which takes approx. 20 mins from village to village. The ski area around Zell am See ranges in altitude from 750m to 2000m which is quite low, but snow conditions usually remain good at the top of the Zell am See range throughout its season. The ski pass covers both Zell am See and the Kaprun ski areas, the season is long in this resort, but be warned the lifts around Zell am See do close before June and so you will need to bus to Kaprun to gain advantage of higher altitude skiing later on in the season.
