Silverton Mountain ski resort. One lift, a very large ungroomed, unmarked ski area and you in the back country!
The ski region is completely back-country and suits experienced skiers, minimal queues, very few people just a mountain and very few people on it.
The altitude is high, the snow is powder, the conditions are are good, but be warned there are no groomed slopes to head back to for an easy ride back to the resort. This is back country skiing...pure and simple.
The lift network is old, but will get you to the top.
There is no on-piste accomadation, no friendly fire and a warming bar or restaurant, just thrills and spills. Most skiers stay in Silverton and there is shuttle to take you to the lift base, but most people who visit here, hire their own 4x4 transport.
