Kimberley Alpine Resort is an established, and still growing ski destination which has benefited from many recent improvements to the lift network and new building within the resort.
The ski area is below the tree line, and so the resort feels like it sits on the edge of a skiable forest. Within the forest there is a good balance of trails to suit all levels of skiers from relatively easy slopes through to some longer and more bumpy chutes for the more experienced skiers.
Despite being at a relatively low altitude the Rockies live up to their reputation for powder here, and the snow conditions are often very good.
The lift network has been expanded recently and is well managed and good quality.
Cross country skiing is popular here and well catered for with extensive trails, even floodlight in some areas.
Accommodation is available at the foot of the slopes and there is a shuttle from the nearby village of Kimberley approximately 2.5km away. The town of Kimberley is an old mining town populated by many German immigrants and the German influence and character has been retained so expect good quality German food and beer. In the town and at the base of the slopes there are a range of good quality restaurants and bars. Apres is available, but tends to be quiet during the week and liven up at the weekends. Kimberley is a friendly resort that welcomes everyone and so is also popular with families as well as groups.
On the slopes there are a variety of Bars and Restaurants to suit a variety of budgets and styles.
