The Cerkno ski resort ski area is named after the region it is located in. Most accommodation with easy access to the slopes is in the villages of Dolenji Novaki or Gorenji Novaki which are at an altitude of around 600m.
The region is popular locally and does attract international visitors. The facilities are of a good standard and the region offers good slopes for beginners and intermediates and although the total km of runs is small at 22km there are few queues and so these are great slopes to learn skiing or boarding. The resort of Cerkno is popular with families who come for its well managed slopes and other activities catering for children.
The resort is also well known for its cross country, hiking tracks and mountain activities.
The resort is relatively low by Alpine standards but it does have a good snow record especially at the height of the season.
There is a range of accommodation from spa hotels to self-catered chalets and a few bars and restaurants close to or on the slopes for those looking for some apres. In addition Cerkno, benefits from being approximately a 1 hour drive from the international airport of Ljubljana.
