Nelson & Canterbury, New Zealand
Founded in 1929, Temple Basin ski resort is an old ski resort compared to the rest of New Zealand’s ski resorts. This is great, as it means snow is reliable here and there is always a fresh section of snow to off piste in if you venture of the beaten track. Having said this, there are a large selection of runs which are intermediate, 18 blue ski runs, which give a sense of adventure as the dramatic scenery surrounds the pistes. There are a small selection of beginner runs, more than most other ski resorts in the country, so it is a good place to put those skis on for the first time.
