Steamboat ski resort is a large and popular with a true good ol’ American feel about it. The word ‘champagne’ here refers to the powder, not the wine.
The ski region is large and combines many pistes with a mix of groomed and un-groomed always on offer. The altitude of the resort is high, however most of the slopes, which suit every level of skier are nearly always tree lined. The resort has a strong reputation for suiting beginners and intermediates very well. More advanced skiers have limited numbers of trails, but there is a lot of back-country skiing here to keep more experienced skiers entertained.
The high altitude for the top and base ensure snow conditions are very good throughout the season, the snow is good and there is plenty of it.
The lift network is modern and efficient and close to some great hotels. Accommodation in the town is available at a variety of budgets.
If you tire of the skiing on the slopes there are natural hot springs in Steamboat to enjoy.
Steamboat is a fair-sized resort and caters for all with a good range of bars and hearty authentic American restaurants available.
International visitors should use Denver which is a long drive from Steamboat, but there is a shuttle service to the local airport, Yampa, which is a short drive away from the resort.
