Saint Jean d'Aulps ski resort is on the French side of the vast Portes du Soleil ski region. The resort has direct access to 50km of mostly beginner or intermediate slopes. The resort altitude is 900m with a top of 1800m and son this is low, but the resort is supported by an array of snow cannons and so the slopes do tend to stay open throughout the season. Sant Jean d'Aulpes pistes are separate from the main Portes du Soleil area and although connected via a short bus transfer to the main PDS skiing region this resort is best suited to beginners or intermediates. The larger resorts in the area tend to attract the livelier crowds for Apres ski and nightlife but there some great eateries and bars within St Jean d'Aulps for those who do not want to travel in the evenings.
