Panorama ski resort is a large ski area in the Purcell Mountains located in British Columbia. The resort combines gentle sheltered alpine skiing with wide, open and more steep pistes for those looking to get some speed as they head down the huge mountain. In fact, that difference between the Panorama mountain summit and the resort base is over 4000ft which is relatively large, meaning that whilst it does take a few lifts to reach the peak, the runs down are fast, thrilling and very varied. There are also two snow parks here which provides great entertainment for the adrenaline seekers. However, the resort is good for beginners too, especially since the addition of the 104 Discovery Quad which connects the beginners area to the top of the 'Discovery Zone' which features a green run called Stringer which is perfect for those who have had a few days lessons and are looking to progress. This shows that the resort has made an effort to cover all skiing abilities now, so whether its adventure or relaxation you prefer, Panorama ski resort will provide.
The major downside to this resort is airport accessibility. The nearest major city is Invermere which is 19km away, meaning a short 20-minute drive which drifts into the Purcell Mountains. This resort is typically quite hard to reach if you are not living in the nearby towns, as the popular airport of Calgary International Airport is over 300km away. Whilst it does give you a chance to go through the amazing Kootenay National Park, the Canadian Rockies airport is a more modest 166km away so this is a better option, although the resort does not offer transfers from here. Accommodation here can be expensive, but it is worth the stay to truly experience what is a great skiing area.
