Palisades Tahoe, previously known as Squaw valley Ski Resort in California was established in the 1960’s as an Olympic ski venue. The resort is twinned with Alpine Meadows and the same lift pass can be used in both resorts and so our Pistepro listing shows the combined slopes available and both front and back sides mountain maps for both resorts are viewable in this listing. Although Palisades Tahoe is not connected by lifts to Alpine Meadows there is a regular shuttle bus which connects the resorts and therefore we have them marked as ‘connected resorts’.

Palisades Tahoe is a very popular resort with all terrain types suitable for every skiers ability level. Be warned though, the slope grading system at Palisades does not differentiate between diamond and double-diamond and so do plan your routes carefully if you are not a good intermediate or experienced skier.

Palisades Tahoe ski resort has a diverse feel to it, as it attracts both an affluent boutique browsing clientele as well as the more hardened, ‘die hard skiing’ mountain goats, and everyone in between. All are attracted by the great skiing that is on offer.

The only downside to this resort is its popularity, when good snow conditions collide with weekends this resorts fans arrive in their masses and this does mean lift queues can be long.

Palisades Tahoe ski resort is at a high altitude and gets a lot of snow throughout the season and so conditions are usually good. The resort is not high with a top of just under 2500m, but this is high enough to ensure there are some good long runs and once again the snow remains mostly above the freezing line.

There is a diverse selection of bars and restaurants on offer in Palisades Tahoe to suit very taste and budget. Apres can be lively and this is a fun resort to join in with the crowds. Palisades is now connected with a Gondola lift to it's sister resort Alpine Meadows over the ridge. In addition there is a shuttle bus which can take skiers to Alpine Meadows by road.
