La Molina ski resort in the Pyrenees, northern Spain, is a medium sized resort with 68km of varied pistes. Arguably La Molina is the spiritual home of Spanish skiing as the resort is the most established having been founded in 1911. Clearly there has been a lot of updating over the years.
There is a good range of pistes here to entertain tourists for a full week, especially when the conditions are good. The altitude range is good and the resort that access the La Molina ski area are high and so there is usually good snow cover throughout the season. Occasionally when conditions are right La Molina is a perfect resort. Good skiing combined with a lively apres, bar and restaurant scene make this a great resort to visit.
There is variety on the slopes, there are a few nursery areas especially close to the accommodation which suit beginners well, but beyond the pistes are largely blue or red with a few black runs to challenge more experienced skiers.
Off-piste there are plenty of opportunities to test and challenge even more experienced skiers when the conditions are good.
