June Mountain ski resort is a medium sized ski area with a small family friendly resort a mile and a half from the base.
The resort is quiet and the snow on the upper slopes is often very good and so skiers looking for solitude or wanting to make fresh tracks will love this ski area. There is plenty of back country skiing to be found here and so good skiers can enjoy a good day exploring the area before heading back to the resort or Mammoth.
The runs that lead to the base of the mountain do favour more experienced skiers, so the nursery slopes are located at the top of the first lift. This is not a problem because there are some good mountain facilities at this lift station and parents can watch their toddlers on the slopes from a comfortable cabin.
The resort is the sister resort of the very popular Mammoth Mountain resort and there is a shuttle from Mammoth so this does attract plenty of day skiers.
The accommodation at June Lake is varied and inexpensive. This is a small resort, so bars and restaurants are limited, but there is a friendly welcome for all.
