Dodge Ridge ski resort is a family run ski resort which offers 67 ski runs over 12 lifts in the heart of the Stanislaus National Forest. It is a popular ski resort as it can be reached by car from the San Francisco area. The terrain across the ski resort offers excellent alpine skiing as the resort is mostly located within a forest on the mountain, and there is a good range of areas for beginners to learn at the base of the resort. The ski area reaches a height of 8200 feet above sea level, where a large range of diamond black and blue ski runs cut back down through the trees. The blue run named “Quicksilver” offers a wider, scenic, and more open piste back down to the base of the resort, whereas the diamond black runs such as “Skyline” are more secluded and narrower, as they navigate through the forests. For those wanting a gentler and more open ski run, the “Bunny trial” is great for beginners. The resort is popular with families, despite the more challenging terrain at the top of the mountain. There are ski clubs for kids and lessons are available too, along with ski hire for all ages. The nearest airport is Appleton airport which is about 1.5 hours drive away.
