Björnen ski resort is a small resort in the Åre Björnen ski area. Although the resort is small, it is directly linked through to the far larger ski area of Åre and so in total there are over 120km of slopes to ski.
The village of Björnen is quiet with a selection of good quality chalets and hotels to choose from. Nightlife in the village tends to be concentrated into the hotel bars, however there are good transport links to the livelier resort of Åre and so for those who want a quiet resort with access to nightlife occasionally this is a very good location to choose.
The pistes directly accessed from Björnen suit beginners and intermediates well and there are specific nursery areas for young beginners. However, intermediates and more experienced skiers will not be disappointed with this resort because there are many more challenging pistes in the Are region. Pistepro have shown both the Åre and Björnen piste maps in this listing. The slopes closer to Are regularly host Downhill world cup events so although the pistes are not massive in length, there are certainly pistes to kep more experienced skiers challenged.
Ski passes can be purchased for the wider region and for those who want to try something new, there is always cross country skiing and even ice driving available in the area.
Travelling to Björnen is relatively easy as there is an international airport 1.5 hours away.
