Bear Mountain ski resort comprises of three ski areas: Bear Peak, Silver Mountain and Goldmine Mountain. The ski resort is unusual as it largely based on irregular freestyle terrain that encourages creative and fun snowboarding and skiing. It is commonly referred to as the “Park” or “Winter Playground” due to its variety of rails and jumps that cater to all abilities of skier and snowboarder looking to improve their tricks on the slopes. Having said that, venturing up to any of the three peaks, such as Bear Peak which is the highest of the three, will provide excellent views of Bow Canyon and Deer Canyon, along with a testing piste that cuts back down through the trees named “Geronimo”. The resort features 12 ski lifts which are mostly modern chairlifts. At the base of the resort is a halfpipe and a standard pipe for snowboarders, along with an open “Central Park” run which features more freestyle features. Overall, the resort is best suited to intermediates as most of the pistes are blue runs, along with its huge variety of irregular terrain. As with other ski resorts located in this part of the USA, snowmaking is heavily relied upon to maintain the pistes and terrain needed for good skiing and snowboarding. Ontario airport is a popular choice of airport for those travelling by plane.
