Aspen Snowmass has a reputation for attracting the rich and famous, they like everyone else are attracted to this resort by some fantastic pistes.
The 4 resorts that make up the Aspen area, are not actually interlinked via a lift network, but they are very close to each other and can be easily reached by the free shuttle bus.
Aspen Snowmass itself is a fantastic region for skiing with a real variety of ski runs and usually great snow conditions. The town itself, started as a Victorian mining town, is full of designer stores and good restaurants and there is a good nightlife to be found in Aspen Snowmass. However, the real reason to visit Aspen is for the great skiing. Whilst the skiing is quite condensed in terms of the resort layout, the huge number of individual runs are varied, scenic and most importantly there is something for everyone here. From the largest continuous vertical drop in the USA, to wide, gentle tree-lined intermediate and beginner runs further down the mountain, there is not enough that can be said about this resort. Off the slopes is an abundance of activities such as ice skating and paragliding, although all these do add up which means that Aspen Snowmass can be a slightly more expensive experience.
Getting to this resort internationally can be tricky, with the largest airport 220 miles away (Denver International Airport). However, there are closer regional airports, Pitkin and Eagle county, for those willing to transfer. The range of activities on offer, as well as the vast number of runs available makes this ski resort a great skiing holiday.
