Alyeska ski resort in Alaska, is probably one of the snowiest ski areas in the world. 17m of snow a year ensures the Trails are full of deep snow, and given the snowfalls regularity its usually fresh snow.
The ski region at Alyeska is a fair size, officially classified as ‘medium’ by Pistepro. On the trail map you’ll see plenty of intermediate runs, not much in the way of beginner runs and lots of steep terrain for expert skiers to enjoy.
Altitude is low, but that is not a problem at this latitude. The altitude range is limited with a peak of 1201m, but there are plenty of nooks and crannies to be found and a bit of back-country skiing to entertain the more experienced skiers.
Bars and Restaurants in the resort are more functional than glamorous, so not much glitz in Alyeska, but the resort does have all the facilities you’ll need to enjoy some great terrain.
The resort itself is basic, but there is plenty of ski-to-door accommodation available and all the facilities you need at the bottom of the slope.
Alyeska is relatively easy to access from the main airport in Anchorage, so short transfer times are welcome after what can be a long flight.
